Structural and Finite Element Analysis

SEA personnel perform complex analyses of structures and equipment. These include 3D frames and plated structures. These analyses are usually undertaken to understand load paths, stresses and overall behaviour.

The analysis methods are typically linear elastic. A range of pre and post processors are utilised for the generation of complex loadings and for automated code-checking to various design standards.

The analysis software generally utilised includes FS2000 and Inventor.

Seafastening

Delivering equipment safely to the offshore work site is imperative. We are experienced in the assessment of the loadings acting on equipment during sea transportation.

Our seafastening designs range from simple gusset plates through to complex grillages and support frames.

Our designs are configured to meet the requirements of DNV, Lloyds and Noble Denton standards allowing for any constraints imposed by deck space and the integrity of the vessel structure.

Mechanical Handling/Lifting

Our mechanical handling and Lifting capability is extensive and ranges from simple desk studies of topside handling requirements through to design and installation of our own bespoke handling equipment.
We are experienced in the following areas:

Mechanical Handling studies
Cranes
Launch and Recovery Systems
Equipment removal and handling schemes
Jacking and pulling systems
Heavy Lifting Design (DNV, Lloyds, Noble Denton)
Rigging and Lift Point Design
Lifting Beams & Lift Frames
Load Testing Procedures
Lifting Plans

Subsea Engineering

SEA have a wealth of experience in providing subsea engineering services that have contributed to the successful delivery of many subsea construction projects worldwide.

We regularly provide project engineering support to vessel operators and subsea contractors.
Our experience includes the following:

Protection Structures
PLEM’s & Valve Skids
Pipeline tie-ins
Gravity Bases
Diver Habitats
Diver Platforms
Cofferdams
Foundations

CAD 2D/3D

All 2D & 3D Computer Aided Draughting (CAD) is performed in house using the latest versions of the software packages, AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor Professional. Our deliverables typically include; layouts, general arrangements, detailed fabrication drawings, machining drawings, isometrics, assembly drawings and dimensional surveys.

We can import and export various drawing and model formats including DXF, IGES and STEP.

Onshore Structural Engineering

Our land based structural engineering projects typically includes design and upgrading of petrochemical facilities, design of shore based equipment and design of temporary structural works.

Our experience encompasses:

Skid Structures

Pipe Racks

Flare Stacks

Pressure Vessels

Storage Tanks

Overhead runway beams and gantries

Equipment removal schemes

Pressure and load testing facilities

Temporary works

Destruct works
